To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting!

WHEREAS the Order of Saint Michael was established on the 18th day of July 2010 to honour and recognise distinguished individuals who have displayed exceptional service, valour, and unwavering dedication to Us and Our Principality of Kaharagia;

AND WHEREAS, with deep reverence for tradition, the preservation of noble virtues, and the pursuit of excellence, We now deem it necessary to update and refine the statutes governing this most illustrious Order;

NOW, THEREFORE, in Our Sovereign capacity, do hereby promulgate these revised Statutes, which shall supersede the original enactments and serve as the guiding principles and regulations for the governance of The Most Illustrious Order of Saint Michael the Archangel.

Article I: Establishment and Purpose

1.1 The Most Illustrious Order of Saint Michael the Archangel, known as the Order of Saint Michael, was established on the 18th day of July 2010 by Royal Decree, thereby constituting the pre-eminent honour of the Principality of Kaharagia.

1.2 The purpose of the Order is to confer distinction upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, valour, and steadfast dedication to the Principality of Kaharagia.

1.3 Membership shall comprise the Sovereign Lord and Master, the Principal Knight Companion, and other individuals appointed as Knights Companion (male) or Ladies Companion (female).

1.4 The Feast Day of the Order shall be observed annually on the 8th day of May, coinciding with the traditional Saint Michael’s Day in Kaharagia. On this day, members shall commemorate and pay tribute to Saint Michael the Archangel.

1.5 In addition to the Feast Day, the Order shall celebrate Michaelmas on the 29th day of September each year. This solemn occasion shall honour the virtues of courage, righteousness, and protection exemplified by Saint Michael.

Article II: Governance and Administration

2.1 The Sovereign Lord and Master, forever and by hereditary right united with the title of Prince of Kaharagia, shall possess absolute sovereignty and authority over the governance of the Order.

2.2 The administration of the Order shall be entrusted to appointed officers, who may or may not be members. These officers shall include:

a) The Prelate: Responsible for the spiritual welfare and traditions of the Order.

b) The Chancellor: Responsible for general administration and affairs of the Order.

c) The Herald: Responsible for matters relating to heraldry, regalia, and ceremonial functions.

d) Gentlemen-at-Arms: Responsible for security and protocol during official events.

Article III: Membership

3.1 The appointment of Knights or Ladies Companion shall lie solely within the personal prerogative of the Sovereign Lord and Master.

3.2 Applications for admission shall not be accepted. All appointments are made solely at the Sovereign’s discretion.

3.3 No honorary or posthumous appointments shall be made. All members, regardless of background or title, shall be regarded as equals within the Order.

3.4 The Order of Precedence within the Order shall be:

a) The Sovereign Lord and Master

b) The Principal Knight Companion (a senior member of the Royal Family)

c) Members of the Royal Family

d) Foreign Royal Members

e) Members of the Kaharagian Nobility

f) Foreign Noble Members

g) All other Knights and Ladies Companion, ranked by seniority of appointment

h) Officers of the order who do not have membership

Article IV: Privileges and Responsibilities

4.1 Privileges conferred upon members shall be primarily ceremonial, in alignment with Kaharagian principles of equality.

4.2 Knights and Ladies Companion are granted personal access to the Sovereign and may serve in ceremonial roles, including the carrying of a canopy over the Sovereign and attendance upon the Sovereign’s person at their funeral.

4.3 Members hold the right to carry a sword at Court, and are recognised as Notables of the Realm with the right to a seat in the Assembly of Notables, if convened.

4.4 In keeping with Kaharagian custom, members shall not bear the prefixes Sir, Dame, or Lady. However, they are entitled to use the post-nominal letters CM to signify their status.

4.5 Members must uphold the highest moral and ethical standards, preserve the dignity of the Order, and remain steadfast in its principles.

Article V: Appointment and Removal

5.1 Appointments shall be made by Royal Decree under the Great Seal of the Realm. Each new Companion shall receive a commission document, signed and sealed by the Sovereign Lord and Master.

5.2 Membership may be revoked in cases of treason, disloyalty, or any action deemed injurious to the Order. Such revocation shall be at the sole discretion of the Sovereign.

Article VI: Nationality Entitlement

6.1 Foreign Knights and Ladies Companion are entitled to claim Kaharagian Nationality by virtue of their appointment.

6.2 Nationality is not granted automatically. Eligible members must make a formal claim.

6.3 Upon acceptance of the appointment, and in accordance with Kaharagian nationality laws, such individuals may initiate the naturalisation process.

Article VII: Insignia of the Order

7.1 The Insignia of the Order symbolises its ideals and identity.

7.2 The Collar is composed of alternating crowned eagles of Jupiter and medallions depicting Saint Michael defeating Satan. Suspended from an eagle is a Crown, from which hangs the Cross of the Order.

7.3 The Cross is a white-enamelled Maltese cross with gold spheres at each point. The central medallion features Saint Michael in gold vanquishing Satan. On the reverse, the arms bear the letters A.M.D.G. with the Sovereign’s monogram at the centre. It is worn on the collar or, alternatively, from a gold neck ribbon (gentlemen) or bow (ladies).

7.4 The Order’s motto is Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam (For the Greater Glory of God). The coat of arms features a black cross on a gold shield and serves as the banner and flag of the Order.

Article VIII: Seal of the Order

8.1 The seal signifies authority and authenticity. A unique seal shall be struck for each Sovereign, and their predecessor’s seal shall be defaced.

8.2 The seal bears the impaled arms of the Principality and the Order, surmounted by a Crown and flanked by two wildmen. The Latin inscription reads: SIGILLUM P. MAXIMILIANI D. ET M. ORD. ILLUST. S. MICHAELIS.

8.3 The Chancellor shall be custodian of the seal and ensure its proper usage.

Article IX: Ceremonial Attire

9.1 Ceremonial attire includes a mantle and a hat, worn during investitures and other formal occasions.

9.2 The Mantle is a black wool cloak lined with black silk. It features a silver (for Companions) or gold (for the Sovereign) embroidered star depicting Saint Michael. It is secured with a black rope and gold finials, and worn over formal attire.

9.3 The Hat is a black wool cavalier-style bolero with an upturned left side, pinned with a gold effigy of Saint Michael defeating Satan. It is adorned with a yellow-gold plume.

9.4 Protocols for ceremonial dress shall be prescribed by the Sovereign Lord and Master.

Article X: Enactment and Amendments

10.1 These Statutes shall take effect upon signature and sealing by the Sovereign Lord and Master.

10.2 They supersede all prior statutes, decrees, and regulations pertaining to the Order.

10.3 The Sovereign Lord and Master alone shall hold the power to amend, repeal, or expand these Statutes, acting in the spirit of justice and honour.

10.4 All amendments shall be issued under the Great Seal of the Realm and communicated to members by Royal Decree.

10.5 In all cases of dispute or ambiguity, the interpretation of the Sovereign Lord and Master shall be final and binding.

10.6 These Statutes are hereby enacted as the supreme law of The Most Illustrious Order of Saint Michael the Archangel.
